Background[]

Anime Vice is a site that was part of the former Whiskey Media brand, founded by Shelby Bonnie in 2007. It was part of family of sites dedicated to popular mediums.

  • Giant Bomb - Video Games
  • Comic Vine - Comics
  • Anime Vice - Anime and Manga
  • Screened - TV and Films
  • Tested - Technology

Brief Timeline[]

Anime Vice was launched on December 4, 2008 along with its Whiskey Media sister sites.[1] On March 15, 2012, Whiskey Media was sold to BermanBraun while Giant Bomb and Comic Vine was sold to CBS Interactive. As a result, Anime Vice and Screened were rendered as a community run site due to cuts in editorial staff and video production. During BermanBraun's reconstruction due to a split between founders, Lloyd Braun and Gail Berman[2], it was renamed to Whalerock. Due to the reconstruction, Screened was shut down on March 14, 2014, and its domain was changed to Moviefone. On April 9, 2015, Anime Vice was shut down, but the brand name continues to live in a Youtube channel partnered by Cine Fix while the community transitions into 3 forum sites and a Wikia site.[3]
